GemStreet USA Show comes to town November 27-29
Though many of the biggest holiday shows, such as the Christmas Connection at the I-X Center, have been canceled this year, others are planning safe, socially distanced events.
On Black Friday Weekend—November 27-29—GemStreet USA Show & Sale brings to town a unique abundance of gems, jewelry, beads, fossils, minerals and home décor items all under one roof at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds.
“We are producing our signature shopping experience with social distancing,” says show producer Gail Strieter. “The vendors will be masked, as will show attendees, and we have allotted for extra-wide aisles and ongoing disinfection practices.
“As a boutique show, we have always been set up for social distancing,” she adds, noting that several dozen vendors span the country from Hawaii to New York, as well as local artists.
You’ll find one-of-a-kind gifts not available in stores or online, including wire-wrapped cabochon necklaces, teak wood sculptures made from 200-year-old roots, and handcrafted Steampunk lamps and clocks.
A local artist, Bob Doyle of Wire Art Stones specializes in hand-carved cabochon minerals and wire–wrapped jewelry. At the show, he will be showcasing wire art made with sterling silver and 14K gold-filled wire, along with hand-cut semiprecious natural and man-made gemstones.
And for mineral enthusiasts, Jim Marcy of Sunshine’s Creative Designs in New York has traveled the country digging up his own fire agate, halite, petrified wood along with minerals and fossils, which he will showcase at the show.
In addition, he features many Brazilian crystals from amethyst to citrine to quartz. And for that something different, he has Bumble Bee Jasper from Indonesia. “As the name implies, the stone’s coloring looks like a bee and there is only one mine in the world that mines this jasper that is found on the back side of an active volcano,” he says. Another unique find is Red Fox Agate from Patagonia, which turns bright green under fluorescent light.
“We bring together fine jewelers, talented artists and knowledgeable collectors who search the world over for the earth's most cherished gems, minerals, fossils and more,”says Gail. “Fabulous holiday gifts for everyone on your list (or even yourself!) await you at our show.”
