GemStreet USA Show comes to town November 15-17

This boutique show offers precious things you won’t find at local stores or malls.

One of the featured artist-exhibitors at the show will be Jolanta Narejko of Elka Designs. After growing up in Poland, where she owned a renowned art gallery, Jolanta emigrated to the United States and began designing exquisite jewelry from natural materials including crystals, stones, bones and African beads. Each of her pieces has a fascinating story to tell.

All the rage this fall are stackable, single-strand, adjustable bracelets you can mix and match. Designed by Jolanta, they feature intricate shapes and luminous materials, such as abalone from New Zealand. She says another big trend right now are leather wrap bracelets fashioned from ribbons of suede.

Much of the artistry in her jewelry designs comes from traditional methods, such as crochet. “I learned how to crochet with yarn from my grandmother when I was five years old, and as an adult translated the techniques to beads,” she says.

Also at the show, don’t miss mineral and fossil experts showcasing rare collector’s pieces, petrified wood and geodes perfect for home decor. And if you want to make your own jewelry, you will find an array of beading supplies, tools and educational materials.
